Hump Day Hook

Welcome to this weeks Hump Day Hook.  This is from my WIP Mystical Wonders - The Right Call.

Shari kept her eyes on the envelope.  Madison took her time removing the contents, which were wrapped in red tissue paper.  Slowly she removed the paper, slid out a piece of a puzzle and an index card.  Holding up the piece she turned it from front to back before placing it down on the table.  Next she unfolded the index card.  Her eyes popped open and the yellow card fell from between her fingers.

Tuesday Tales – Wine

-->
Welcome to this weeks Tuesday Tales to the word prompt Wine.  For my blog, I choose to keep the scene PG.

Pia took a sip of her wine before setting her long black stem glass down on the frosted glass coasters on her cocktail table.  Lorenzo stood in front of her, extending his hand toward her.

“Come here.”

Pia took his hand and slipped into his arms as they danced to the soft love song playing on the stereo.  Since Lorenzo had become a part of her life, she started to see and appreciate things she never did before.

Dancing, well this was one of her passions.  Growing up, she had always wanted to go to dance school, but with her father in and out of jobs, her parents couldn’t afford to send her.  Pia took a few dance classes while she attended college, but quickly lost interest.  Dancing wasn’t fun unless you had a steady dance partner. But she had the passion and loved being swept across the dance floor.

Pia ran her fingers through Lorenzo’s hair. “You’re a natural.”

“Why thank you.  Your pretty good yourself,” he said lifting her chin with his thumb until their eyes met.

“I don’t want to seem forward, but things feel so right.”

“I’m glad you said what I was thinking.  I didn’t want to say anything to make you feel uncomfortable.”

Lorenzo held her face between his hands, leaned down, and kissed her.  Pia slid her hands up his chest and locked her hands around his neck.  His lips were so soft and the feeling of his calloused fingertips made ripples of excitement flood through her. She felt his hardness against her stomach, his heart beating rapidly, as her libido rose.

“I falling in love with you,” Lorenzo said, holding her tightly in his arms.

“Me too.”  Pia backed out of his arms, held onto his hand, and led him into her bedroom.

“Are you sure?” he asked before entering.

“Yes. I am.”
                                                      * * * * *

Pia opened her eyes to the sun beaming through the thin slit in the curtains. Turning over, Lorenzo slept on his stomach spread out on the bed under the zebra print cotton sheets.  The night before had been amazing.  They had made love, ate ice cream and made love again.  The last time she looked at the clock it had been three o’clock.  She put her head back on the pillow, and drifted back to sleep.   An hour later, she opened her eyes and glanced at the clock, which read ten o’clock.  She sat up and shook him.

“Lorenzo, wake up.  It’s ten o’clock.  You’re going to miss your flight.”

He turned over, reached out and took her in his arms.  “It’s all right.  I still have a little time.”

“Oh, okay.  I didn’t want you to miss your flight.”

“Honestly, I’ve been up for the past half hour, waiting for you.  Let’s get up, shower and grab breakfast before I have to go.”

Black Friday Blog Hop

Welcome to the Black Friday Blog Hop. I am not a Black Friday Shopper.  You ask why?  Because I was on the other side of the door.

I worked at Toys R Us for five years.  And I worked every Black Friday.  I would spend Thanksgiving with my family, and then rush home to try to get a few hours sleep before going to work at 3:30 AM in the morning.

I'd get to work and fight with the crowds to get through the exit door into the store.  By 4:00 AM the customers are crushed against the front door, some their noses against the glass.  Electronics and the hottest dolls are on the top of everyone's list.  Despite the complete mayhem, I must admit it was one of favorite days of the year to work, along with Christmas Eve.

In my eyes, the main theme of all the Black Friday mayhem is love, getting the best deals to make our family, friends and love ones happy.

Now you want to talk about love, I am giving away a copy your choice Roses or The Boardwalk.

Roses

 The sudden death of her husband sends Nikki Petrino into a tailspin. Three years later, she's still grieving. Mexico seems the perfect retreat to finish her novel.   Musician Drake Dente needs to get back on track and an excursion to Mexico to work on lyrics for his comeback CD is just what he needs.   Can two ships passing in the night bound for Mexico become the love they both need and want? Attraction sizzles and misunderstandings threaten. When Nikki goes missing can Drake find her before it's too late?

The Boardwalk

After an accident at work, Brooklyn DeMelli walks every day down at the boardwalk as a way to keep active and have a semi normal social life. She meets up with the regular morning walkers, while enjoying the beauty of the beach and the scent of the ocean. To keep busy she started her own company, making beaded jewelry for parties and flea markets.
Mario Morales is the hippy that plays acoustic guitar every morning at different ends of the boardwalk. The music captivates Brooklyn. Following the muse, she meets Mario who turns out to be a narcotics detective working undercover on a huge investigation. When Mario finds out Brooklyn is inadvertently involved in a drug trafficking ring, it leads to a series of events, which puts Brooklyn’s life in jeopardy, while forming a romantic bond between them.

To be entered into the grand prize and be eligible to win a copy of my book, you must leave a comment along with your email address so you can be contacted.

Thank you for stopping by.  Happy Black Friday Blog Hopping!

Hump Day Hook

Welcome to this week's Hump Day Hook.  This excerpt is from my WIP Mystical Wonders - Book 3 - The Right Call.

-->
“It was.  I was the kid that every team wanted. Not to sound vain, but my quick success, put me on a fast road that I wasn’t ready for at all.”  Scott lifted his knife and cut his meat.  “I went from a half a season in the minor leagues right to the Penguins, where I’ve been their number one pitcher for the past twenty-six years.  But now, my future is in the hands of the upper brass, or shall I say me.”  Scott took a bite of his steak.  He lifted up his knife.  “Awesome.  Go ahead eat.”

Tuesday Tales – Thanksgiving Picture Prompt

-->
This week, I decided to put my story on hold to reflect on the things I am thankful for.  Staten Island is in a state of devastation and luckily I made it through the storm with minor damage.  My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims on the East Coast.

I'd also like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving full of love, hope and health.

Everyone sat around the beautifully decorated table, dressed with their family heirloom dishes and knick-knacks to celebrate Thanksgiving.  This year, however, would be much different.  I have a lot to be thankful for, you know the little things we all take for granted.

1.     My Home: When I get up in the morning, I wake up to a warm house and the scent of dinner cooked from the night before. I have a chill, so I walk over to the thermostat, crank it up, and then complain when it gets too hot in the house.  A roof over my head…totally grateful.
2.     My Family:  Just knowing my parents and brother are only a phone call away, leaves me with peace of mind.  They will never let me go hungry and will always give me the emotional support I need, anytime, any day.
3.     My Kids:  Oh yeah, now that’s a big challenge.  From infants to adults, they have made the past 23 years of my life fly by with a snap of the fingers.  But for their love, I am truly grateful.
4.     My Career:  I always wanted to be an author since I was fourteen years old.   This year, I have two novels out and a two book deal for my Mystical Wonders Series.  Totally grateful.
5.     My Stallion:  What we share together, other people never find in a lifetime.  Things might not be perfect, but his love and support is something I will never again take for granted.  It’s because of him I am the woman I am today.
6.     My Friends: For your words of inspiration and encouragement.

This Thanksgiving will be different for many because of Hurricane Sandy. So as you celebrate Thanksgivings, be thankful for what you have, and for life.

Hump Day Hook

Welcome to this week's Hump Day Hook.  This is a scene from my WIP.

-->
Sophia looked up at the sky.  The stars were shining, something she rarely seen or paid attention to.  For some reason, tonight had opened her eyes to the endless possibilities, she had missed out on through the years. Allentown was a whole different world, so unlike the fast pace of the city.
-->
“We’ll have to do that one night.”
“I don’t know when the next time I’ll be in Allentown.” Sophia leaned into him as they walked.  “I have my business to run.”
“That’s understandable.  But maybe you can come up with an excuse for an extended weekend.”  He kissed the top of her head and gathered her snuggly in his arms.  “This is not a one weekend fling.  I really like you.”

Tuesday Tales - Sexy

Welcome to this weeks edition of Tuesday Tales.  This week the word prompt is Sexy.

Pia loved seeing the joy on Lorenzo’s face as fans stopped by the table asking for an autograph or just wanting to shake his hand.  His blue eyes sparkled and not for a single second did he not have a smile on his face.

He reached across the table.  “I hope you’re not upset with me.”

“Why would I be upset?”  Pia asked.  “This is part of who you are.  I don’t mind at all.

“That’s so good to hear.”  Holding up his coffee mug, he motioned with his hand to Lena.  “Can you bring us two more?”

“Sure,” she said racing around the cafĂ©, which had become crowded.

“Now back to us.”  Taking her hands in his, he leaned across the table and kissed her lips.  “I love this place.  What I can’t understand is how you can sit here seeing and smelling all these pastries and cookies without the urge to eat more.”

“You should be here when they are baking the bread.  It’s awesome straight out of the oven.”

“Maybe we can do that some morning when the season is over,” he squeezed her hand.

“I’d really like that.”

Lorenzo let go of her hands when Lena came back with two more cappuccinos.  “Can I get you something else?”

“I’m fine,” Pia said, rubbing her belly.  “I ate way too much tonight.”

“Nonsense.”  Lorenzo pointed at the counter.  “Can we have a couple of those cookies on top of the counter in the glass cookie dish?  And then I’d like for you to box me about six dozen to go.”  He turned to Pia laughing.  “The guys are going to love these cookies.”

“You’re going to spoil them.”

“Never.  I’m going to spoil myself, giving me a reason to come out to Staten Island to see you.”

Pia grinned.  Things were going great with Lorenzo.  He seemed to like her, but she didn’t want to get her hopes up.  Lorenzo came from a totally different world then her, one she wasn’t use to.  One she would love to be a part of.

“Maybe next time I’ll make you an authentic Italian dinner.”

“I’d love that.  Unfortunately it will have to wait for me to come back from the west coast road trip.  I’ll be back in about ten days.  Will you wait for me?”

Gazing into her blue eyes, she wished they were at a point in their relationship where she could reach across the table, and run her fingers through his dirty blond hair.  The thought of him holding her in his arms, feeling his body pressed against hers drove her absolutely crazy.

“Do you want me to?” Pia asked wanting to hear the words.

Lorenzo moved their mugs to the side and rook her hand.  “I know we don’t know each other that long, but from the moment I saw you helpless in the parking lot, I knew you were the one.  So in answer to your question, yes, I want you to wait for me.”

“When are you leaving?”

“Tomorrow around midday,” he frowned.  “The timing couldn’t be worse for a road trip.”

“I know, especially since we can’t seem to find any quiet time to sit and talk.”  Lifting up her cell phone she pointed to the time.  “It’s already twenty to twelve.”

Lorenzo signaled Lena for the check.  “I wish this night would never end.”

“It doesn’t have to.  Why don’t you stay with me tonight?”

Lorenzo’s mouth dropped open.  Before he could speak, Lena returned with the check and a shopping bag with the cookies.  He handed her a hundred twenty dollars and stood.  Pia grabbed her pocketbook off the table and stood by him.

“I’ll be right back with your change.”

“That’s okay.  Keep the change.”

They walked outside and across the street to the car.  “Staten Island is one crazy town,” he chuckled.

“Why do you say that?”  she asked getting into the car.

“Everyone is so casual. It seems that everyone is carefree, not taking life so seriously. I've never seen so many people wearing flip flops while wearing dress clothes.  But you my darling looks absolutely sexy."

"Thank you.  I love getting dressed up."

“And I take us,” he pointed to her then himself, “seriously too.”  He leaned over, turned her face toward his, and kissed her lips.  When their lips parted, he put the car in drive.  “Come on, let’s go home.”

Hump Day Hook

This is from my WIP Mystical Wonders - The Right Call  (Book 3)

Cassie paced back and forth to the window.  When the hell was Sophia coming home?  She wanted to get a better look at Scott’s car.  It hadn’t dawned on her until he pulled up the roof and the blackened windows that he was the scumbag that almost killed them when they were coming out the food store.  After almost causing a fatal accident, he never stopped nor slowed down.  Now this animal was out their with her cousin.
