Tuesday Tales – Mountain

Welcome to this weeks edition of Tuesday Tale's where authors write to a word prompt. This week word prompt is Mountain. Make sure you check out the other wonderful tales at: Tuesday Tales

Pia laid out all her purchases onto the bed. Tonight she wanted to look perfect. She had spent the past two hours in and out of the dressing room trying on different outfits. After getting undressed and dressed for close to an hour, she had to take a step back and think about what she was doing. She was going to a baseball game, not a formal affair.

Her usual attire of jeans, t-shirt and hair in a ponytail just wouldn’t suffice. So she choose a pair of black skinny jeans, a white poet’s shirt and a pair of two inch black suede boots which tied up the back.

On the way home she spoke to Lisa who couldn’t believe what had taken place the past two days. “Of all time for me to be on a business trip up here in the mountains in the middle of no where missing all the fun. Bitch,” she said laughing on the other end of the phone.

Pia missed her friend and could have used her help in the mall. It sucked having to walk around the store with no thought or direction in mind. But she did it. She found an outfit that Lisa probably would have hated but suited Pia’s personality.

After getting dressed, she sprayed herself with Angel by Thierry Mugler and applied a thin layer of cocoa lipsticks on her thin lips. To top off the outfit, she reached into the bag on her chair and took out a small black quilted Chanel pocketbook. Well, not exactly a real one, but no one would be able to tell the difference.

Her biggest challenge was her hair. The humidity kept her shoulder length dark brown hair from being frizz free. Not good. She added some hair gel to her hair and threw her hair tie into her bag. If her hair got too out of control, she’d tie it back.

True to Lorenzo’s word, her doorbell rang at quarter to three. She opened the door and sitting at the curb was a white stretch limousine. She had expected a yellow cab, not a fancy limo.

The driver opened the door and she slid in. On the white leather sat a bouquet of multicolored lilies. “There’s a bottle of champagne, diet soda and water in the mini frig. Help yourself.” The divider closed. Pia grabbed a bottle of diet coke out of the frig and leaned back. Listing up the flowers she smelled them before setting back down beside her.

The faint sound of music came from the speakers’ overhead. On the armrest she found the control for the radio. She raised the volume to a Beatle song on 104.3.

The ride to the stadium went quickly. Usually the ride on the BQE was a long one between the construction and traffic, but today, the traffic moved along. The limo pulled into the players’ parking lot where it came to a halt. The driver opened the door and Pia stepped out.

Lorenzo stood by the gate waving. “I see you made it in plenty of time,” he said walking toward here.

“Yes. There was no traffic. We flew here.”

“Perfect.” Lorenzo kissed her, taking her hand in his. “Thanks Harvey,” he called over his shoulder to the limo driver.

Pia opened and closed her eyes. Lorenzo looked sexy in his uniform pants with the team’s t-shirt over them. “Thanks for the lilies. They’re beautiful. You are full of surprises.”

“No, I just wanted to make sure I made a good impression so you would go out to dinner with me after the game.” He squeezed her hand while leading her onto the field.

“All you had to do is ask.”

“That would be too easy.” He opened the gate next to the dugout so she could sit in the stands. “The best seat in the stadium for you.” He chuckled. “And by the way, you look fabulous.” He gave her a quick kiss on the lips before grabbing his glove off the grass and running onto the field.
