Tuesday Tales – Sand

Welcome to this weeks Tuesday Tales to the word prompt sand.  Thanks for stopping by.

Lisa took the envelope out of Pia’s hand.  Sliding the paper out, she held it between her fingers shaking her head back and forth.  “No way.”  Pointing at the paper, “Are you sure?”

“Sure as a hell, down to the raised seal.”

Pia kept her eyes on Lisa as she ran her fingers along the raised circular seal.   “Damn are you screwed.”

“No kidding Sherlock.  That’s why I need your help.”

“I don’t understand how this happened and why you would wait four years to address this?”

“I know. I just didn’t want to accept it.  I filed it into the back of my mind.  I didn’t want to believe I could be such a fool to let Larry trick me into marrying him.” Pia sat down on the sand colored sectional couch in the living room, covering her face with her hands.

“Don’t even go there with that crying shit.  I need to know all the facts if I am going to help you,” Lisa said sitting down next to her.  “My first question is, how could you have kept this secret from me?  I can’t believe you didn’t confide in me.”

“I’m sorry.  I have never been so embarrassed in my whole life.  I let that bastard get over on me.”

“So I see.  But now, we have to get you out of this as quickly and quietly as possible. “

“Lisa, I don’t want to ruin my relationship with Lorenzo.  I know this would be the deal breaker.”

“I don’t think he would drop you and toss you aside because of something that happened years ago.”

“He’s a ballplayer, and a very good one.  I don’t think he wants to be involved in my drama and controversy.”

“I’m going to see if I can catch a plane out to Vegas in the morning, see what I can find out.  In the meantime, I need for you to keep it together.”

Pia didn’t say anything because she didn’t have any answers for her.  If anyone could help her it would be Lisa.  Since she had started practicing law, she took on the hopeless cases, the ones nobody wanted to deal with.  In seventy-five percent of those cases, she found a resolution.  This would just be another hopeless case added to the list.

“I will do my best.  I don’t like lying to Lorenzo.”

“Let me see what I come up with.  But this is something you have to eventually tell him.  You’re right.  You can’t be in a relationship built on lies.  Hold off until I come back.”

Pia shook her head in agreement.  “Coffee?” she asked standing.

“On the stove.”

“And the Sambuca?”

“Where it always is, under the sink behind the box of Brillo.”

  7. I love Pia and Lisa's friendship, especially how they conclude their discussion of Pia's problem behind the box of Brillo. I think Lisa is going to find a whole lot more in Vegas than she is barganing for...

Black Friday Blog Hop

Welcome to the Black Friday Blog Hop. I am not a Black Friday Shopper.  You ask why?  Because I was on the other side of the door. I worked at Toys R Us for five years.  And I worked every Black Friday.  I would spend Thanksgiving with my family, and then rush home to try to get a few hours sleep before going to work at 3:30 AM in the morning. I'd get to work and fight with the crowds to get through the exit door into the store.  By 4:00 AM the customers are crushed against the front door, some their noses against the glass.  Electronics and the hottest dolls are on the top of everyone's list.  Despite the complete mayhem, I must admit it was one of favorite days of the year to work, along with Christmas Eve. In my eyes, the main theme of all the Black Friday mayhem is love, getting the best deals to make our family, friends and love ones happy. Now you want to talk about love, I am giving away a copy your choice Roses or The Boardwalk . Roses   The sudden
