Tuesday Tales - Spider

Welcome to this weeks Tuesday Tales to the word prompt Spider. Pia has gotten herself into some situation.  And it continues...

Pia’s heart palpitated as she ran to her car. The two envelopes dug into her butt cheeks so badly, she had to pull over a few blocks away from her house.  Releasing the button on the side of the seat, she pushed it back in order to lean forward and grabbed the two envelopes out of her pants, placing them on the dashboard facing her.

Fifteen minutes later, she still stared at the two envelopes marked Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wildes.  Glancing up at the windshield, she spotted a black spider the size of a quarter staring down at her.  Pia blinked her eyes and shook her head, hoping the spider wasn’t a bad sign.

Reaching for the first envelope, she opened the flap and slipped the papers out.  Her eyes scanned down the page.  By the time she got to the end, the papers fell from her hands.  “That bastard,” she screamed, banging her hands on the steering wheel.   Returning to the first page, she read again, Life Insurance Policy Pia Wildes.  Flipping through the papers, she stopped and read the heading of the second set of stapled papers, Life Insurance Policy for Lawrence Wildes.

Pia took a deep breath.  She reached out for the second envelope still sitting on the dashboard.  Her heart raced as she slid the single paper out of the envelope, Certificate of Marriage in the State of Nevada.  That paper also dropped from her hand.  This was a nightmare in the making.  How could she have been so stupid in not following up on this from day one?  Choosing to ignore things was going to make it harder to annul the marriage.

Lorenzo would be home from his road trip in a week and a half, so time would be limited.  She needed help.  Pulling her car seat back up, she reattached her seatbelt and drove to her best friend Lisa’s house.  After Lisa got over the initial shock, she would ball her out for keeping something like this from her, and then she would march into action to help her.

Pia walked around back and knocked on the back door.  Lisa opened the door and hugged her.

“What’s wrong?  You are so pale and your right eye is twitching.”

“I have a big problem.”  Pia handed her the envelopes.  “I’m married and I need your help to get me out of it.

  3. Holy crap that's a shock. I hope she can get out of the drug induced marriage before Lorenzo finds out. If he does he'd better stand by his woman to the end.

  11. The spider was definitely a warning sign for Pia. The spider represented Larry who had spun his spider web to trap Pia into a situation she never thought he would put her in. He is really a heartless person to do something so evil. MJP
