Wounded Warriors Project Blog Hop

Christmas is about family, tradition and memories.  Through the years I've kept up with my grandmother's tradition of making Christmas cookies, which I might add I love doing and sharing.

This past year, after being a single parent for 17 years, I met the love of my life and got married three months later.  Now we are making our own traditions and box full of memories.

For the first time in over ten years, I have taken out Christmas decoration, which were packed away with no future to be seen again, expect for being passed on to my kids. But not this year.
My husband John and I combined our Christmas decorations, decorated all three floors of our townhouse transporting our home into a winter wonderland. My four foot tree is fully decorated in the den and his eight foot tree is in my living room with a collaboration of both our ornaments making for the perfect tree.

We bought new ornament and decoration to make our new memories to go with our new life together. This year my life turned into a real life romance novel, giving hope to all that true romance/love comes when you least expect it.

I wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season full of love and happiness.

A special thank you to our military who fight for our freedom and protect our country.  And to all the Wounded Warriors, there is always a place in my heart for you.  I lost my 20 year old cousin Lance Corporal Robbie Martinez on December 1, 2005 to a roadside bombing. True hero you men and women are.

  1. Thank you for supporting such a worthy cause. Military life has been a huge part of my life, from being a military brat until my father retired, meeting and marrying a man in the military, and now our son who has been in since 2001 with 7 deployments, 4 to Iraq and 3 to Afghanistan. We know all too well what it is like to have him overseas during the holidays.

  12. Sounds like you'll have a delightful Christmas holiday -- full of love. My mom always made dozens of cookies at Christmastime, just to have on hand when friends and family dropped by. There were never any leftovers!

  16. Yay for you on enjoying Christmas cookies-- specially the old fashioned ones. I left a ginger cookie recipe on my wounded warrior blog post. As for Christmas tradition-- I'd have to say my favorite is hanging the mistletoe and when I had my beloved husband, getting kissed beneath it. I'm so happy for you this year of celebration, marrying the love of your life. When you have that, you have it all. Have a Merry Christmas and splendid new year. http://flossiebentonrogers.com/blog/
