Tuesday Tales - Valentine's Day Prompt

Happy Valentine's Day.  This week we are writing to the above prompt.  For the first time in a very long time I will be celebrating Valentine's Day with my husband.  Love is a strong word and something no matter our age we can find and enjoy.

Lorenzo wanted the perfect Valentine’s Day celebration for Pia, but things didn’t go according to plan.  He made reservation at the Angelina’s by the water, reserved the table by the window with the fireplace in not far behind them.  In the morning, he had four dozen multicolored roses delivered to the restaurant. Snowflakes fell from the sky.  After surfing all the news channels, Lorenzo decided that he’d wait to see what happened as the day progressed.

But as quick as the snow came down, it disappeared with the sun taking its place. At six thirty he pulled up in a white stretch limousine.  His Pia deserved only the best. He walked over to her front door with a bouquet of wild flowers.

“Happy Valentine’s Day sweetheart.” Lorenzo leaned over to kiss her lips.

“These are beautiful, thank you. Let me put them in water.”

“Are you packed?”

“My overnight bag is by the door.”

Within minutes they climbed into the limousine.  “I’m so surprise.”

“Only the best for you.”

“Where are we going?”

“You’ll see when we get there.”

It took them over forty-five minutes to get to Angelina’s. The driver opened the door for them.  Lorenzo got out first, extended his hand out to Pia who led her hand in his.

“Oh my God, Angelina’s!  How did you get reservations here?  They are normally booked for weeks.”

The hostess opened the door for them.  They walked in, walking past the long wooden mahogany bar, over to a table in the corner of the room.  On the table were dozens of multi-colored roses, champagne glasses and a long gold box.

“Go ahead open it.”

Pia opened the box.  Inside laid a diamond rose gold key.  “It’s beautiful, Lorenzo.”

Lorenzo took the necklace from her hands and put it around her neck.  “You will always have the key to my heart.”
