Welcome to the Black Friday Blog Hop. I am not a Black Friday Shopper. You ask why? Because I was on the other side of the door.
I worked at Toys R Us for five years. And I worked every Black Friday. I would spend Thanksgiving with my family, and then rush home to try to get a few hours sleep before going to work at 3:30 AM in the morning.
I'd get to work and fight with the crowds to get through the exit door into the store. By 4:00 AM the customers are crushed against the front door, some their noses against the glass. Electronics and the hottest dolls are on the top of everyone's list. Despite the complete mayhem, I must admit it was one of favorite days of the year to work, along with Christmas Eve.
In my eyes, the main theme of all the Black Friday mayhem is love, getting the best deals to make our family, friends and love ones happy.
Now you want to talk about love, I am giving away a copy your choice Roses or The Boardwalk.
The sudden death of her husband sends Nikki Petrino into a tailspin. Three years later, she's still grieving. Mexico seems the perfect retreat to finish her novel. Musician Drake Dente needs to get back on track and an excursion to Mexico to work on lyrics for his comeback CD is just what he needs. Can two ships passing in the night bound for Mexico become the love they both need and want? Attraction sizzles and misunderstandings threaten. When Nikki goes missing can Drake find her before it's too late?
To be entered into the grand prize and be eligible to win a copy of my book, you must leave a comment along with your email address so you can be contacted.
Thank you for stopping by. Happy Black Friday Blog Hopping!

The Boardwalk
After
an accident at work, Brooklyn DeMelli walks every day down at the
boardwalk as a way to keep active and have a semi normal social life.
She meets up with the regular morning walkers, while enjoying the beauty
of the beach and the scent of the ocean. To keep busy she started her
own company, making beaded jewelry for parties and flea markets.
Mario Morales is the hippy that plays
acoustic guitar every morning at different ends of the boardwalk. The
music captivates Brooklyn. Following the muse, she meets Mario who turns
out to be a narcotics detective working undercover on a huge
investigation. When Mario finds out Brooklyn is inadvertently involved
in a drug trafficking ring, it leads to a series of events, which puts
Brooklyn’s life in jeopardy, while forming a romantic bond between them.

I haven't waited for a store to open on Black Friday.

We don’t have a black friday over here, we do have our own version that lasts three days. I’ve been shopping on of those days……I was planning to buy a jacket but with all the pushing and being squeesed I gave up and went home. And purchased the jacker online.

ReplyDeleteangelheart618@gmail.com
I worked at Toys R Us for Black Friday one year. Completely crazy! I did enjoy it, but there were some scary moments as well. People fighting and a woman that collapsed, but overall I enjoyed the hustle and bustle.
ReplyDeleteJYL22075 at gmail dot com
This is the BEST way to spend Black Friday. Sitting at home, hopping with old friends and making new ones. I can't handle the crowds anymore so I only do Black Friday shopping online if I do any. I tend to pick up gifts throughout the year so come November I'm finished. That way I can spread out the purchasing and not spend a fortune at the time of the year when my job is at its slowest and my paycheck is at its lowest. Thanks for being part of the hop and for the chance to win. <^_^>

My sympathies that you worked at ToysRUs!

I love shopping on Black Friday, I live in a small town so people are usually pretty friendly. We occasionally get the bad egg who wants to push and be rude but they don't get away with it for very long.
ReplyDeleteproudarmymom32(at)yahoo(dot)com
Thank you for the lovely giveaway~ I love BF shopping! I got all my big ticket BF shopping out of the way today and last night so it's nice to relax and hop tonight!

It is so refreshing to hear somebody who worked in retail say they actually enjoyed working on Black Friday. I didn't work in retail but used to work every holiday. I never complained about it. I liked my job and that was the way it was. Nothing you can do but make the best of it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for being a part of the hop and for the giveaway.
Happy Holidays,
