My New Life by the Shore

I've been MIA for the past six months.  During this time, major changes took place in my life. My husband and I decided to move down to the Jersey Shore to an Adult Community.  After a few trips down to the shore, we finally found our new home. But that was just the beginning.  Who knew that moving would totally wipe me out.  The daily packing and through away things.  Looking at things and deciding if I needed it or it was just another knickknack which would collect the same dust at the new house. I must say the worst of it was throwing away my thirty year collection (out-of-date) Writer's Digest Magazines.  It's amazing how the publishing industry changed in since then.  But the best part of our new house I would  have my own  writing room, which is still a work in progress. To add to the mayhem of moving, my publisher shut its doors.  Oy!  Here I was in the middle of packing, now I would have to figure out what to do with my...

Tuesday Tales - Broken

When the Bee Gee’s song, “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart”, played on the radio, Alexandra turned it off. If she would have listen to it, she’d be crying all over again. The past two weeks have been hard on her. She hadn’t spoken to Billy at all. He continued to call her every day, leaving her a message on her cell phone, but she refused to talk to him. There were just too many unanswered questions. Alexandra should have known better than to get herself involved. But it was too late to second guess her decision. She could kick herself in the ass for trusting him. It wasn’t that he lied to her, he just chose to leave out the finer details of his life, the important things, which led her to think about what else he wasn’t revealing. Wandering around the house, she couldn’t relax. Damn it, she missed him. She wanted to believe in him. She wanted him. Her cell phone rang and she ran across the room for the phone, only to be disappointed to see the word unavailable scrolled acro...

Tuesday Tales - Fire

Alexandra wiped the ice off her black and white ski pants. For the past hour, Billy and she had been ice-skating on the lake down the road from her house. Billy stole the show with his strategic skating steps, while she spent most of the time on her butt. She’d fall, Billy would pick her up, and then she’d skate a few feet before landing back on her butt again. The day was just perfect with the scent of snow heavily evident. Every time she took a deep breath, she’d exhale, seeing her breath. She hated the cold weather and seeing your breath, definitely wasn’t a good sign. It only meant that winter has arrived, with the snow to shortly follow. She fell again, this time right on her butt. This time she went hysterical. Looking across the pond, Billy skated, and when he saw her down, he skated across the pond. “I think it’s time to call it a day,” Billy said, helping her up one last time. “Yeah, I think you’re right.” Within minutes, she had her skates off and UGGS on. “I’d ...

Tuesday Tales - Knife

Alexandra slid the purple off the shoulder dress over her head. Staring into the mirror she shook her head in approval. This had been the sixth dress that she tried on within the past ten minutes. Tonight had to be perfect, as it was their one year anniversary. It was hard to imagine that their relationship had spanned so long, especially when she wasn’t looking for a boyfriend to begin with. Now, a year later she relished the time she spent with Billy. They built the relationship she swore she would never have. Now that she had it, she couldn’t imagine living without him. Billy had turned out to be a major part of her life. A part, she planned on never giving up. Relationships and Alexandra didn’t go hand it in. It went back to her childhood where she moved town to town with her parents, never having enough of time t make friends and built any kind of a bond with anyone. Sure she had her parents, but they were always working and left her in the care of a nanny, who let h...

Tuesday Tales - Wedding

“I can’t believe I’m getting married in just a few short hours,” Alexandra said. Neither can I,” her best friend Dee said. “This has been a long time coming.” “Yes it has.” Looking in the mirror she pointed below her eye,” Can you give me another coat of eyeliner?” “I’ll give you that and another coat of mascara. You sure you don’t want me to put on the false eyelashes I bought?” “Positive. I want to look as natural as possible.” “You look gorgeous,” she referred to Alexandra’s white form fitting satin wedding dress. “I shouldn’t have listened to you. I should have gone down to city hall and got married by the justice of the peace.” “Nonsense. You waited over twenty years to find Mr. Right. You deserve to have the whole shitten caboodle.” “But I feel so out of place. It’s not like I’m a virgin.” “Let’s not go there again.” Putting the blush brush down she said, “I’m going to get us an ice tea, with a splash of lemon Vodka.” “Make mine a double.” Alexandra relished...

Forbidden Love

When I look at you, I can’t help but remember the first time I saw you. When you looked at me, I felt a tingle overtake my body. I felt a warming to your boyish grin, walking away from you, wishing that I had said more. As time past by, I got to know you better. I knew that there would be magic between us. When I close my eyes I see your face, and calmness takes over my body. What I feel inside scares me to death. My heart has never stirred like this before. So many times I wanted to ask you if you have ever been adored, given a woman’s heart and soul, and unconditional love. But I didn’t. My feelings for you are sacred. It’s your mind and compassion that has captivated my heart, not your physical being. I want to be the one that gives you true happiness. I want to spin your world, showing you that life is so precious, worth living every moment of it in the present. I truly believe that we have to live for today, because tomorrow may never come. Time and time again I’ve been told that ...

Tuesday Tales - Pleasure

“Today is your day.” Billy turned the radio on in the car and rested his hand on her lap. “Are you going to tell me where you are taking me?” “No way. It is going to be a total surprise.” “Just like the Halloween party.” He changed lanes and got onto the West Shore Expressway. “Ha. Even better.” “I don’t know if I like your surprises.” “Have I let you down yet?” Alexandra thought for a moment and smiled. Since Billy came into her life, her once dull life had turned into an adventure. When he said they were going out for a day of fun, he meant it. The Halloween party had been an awesome experience. Through the years, she had disliked Halloween more and more. It had gotten to the point that she didn’t even open her door, instead she left the candy outside in a dish for the kids to take. Now she let him talk her into another escapade. She hated to admit it, but she looked forward to these journeys. They always brought her closer to Billy by the end of the day. “Come t...

Tuesday Tales

Trick or Treat The moment Alexandra pushed the door opened the sound of classic rock and roll blared out. Before she could join the party, a woman in a gothic vampire costume stopped her in the doorway with blood red lipstick on her plump lips. “If you want to enter,” she shook a glass dish in front of her, “you have to leave your car keys in here.” “You’re kidding?” “Nope. I will not be responsible for drunk driving. If you can find your keys when you are ready to leave, then they are yours. If not, you can camp out upstairs in one of the bedrooms. Understood?” “Yes.” Alexandra dropped her key in the dish and walked into the living room. The party was in full swing. She’d bet that many of the attendees would be spending the night. She scanned the room, hoping to find Billy. When he had told her that it was costume only, she had laughed. And when he told her that he would meet her there and their own game would be to find one another without saying a word, she accepted t...

Sunday's Dance

I still can't believe that all this positive energy is coming my way. I am so absorbed with happiness. I've even got an estimated release date of February 22, 2012. The happy dance is still going on over at my house in Staten Island. But now that I have a release date, I am excited about getting the word out there. Now the challenge is on. I'm looking for a unique way to promote my book. I look forward to sharing with my work with the readers, meeting them and getting their feedback so that my next book is something that they will be looking forward to reading. I do have another two books in the works. One being a romantic suspense and another being a mainstream women's fiction. But before I do that, I want to share tidbits of my novel during 6 sentence Sunday and Sweet Saturday samples. I am working on my short story for Tuesday Tales and I'm really looking forward to sharing that with all of you. Hope to see you on Tuesday. Stop by and leave a comment on ...

I Got the Call

I am still doing the dance. I got the call last Monday along with a publishing contract from Secret Craving Publishing. I am still in shock. It's hard to believe that after all these years my dream of becoming a published author have come true. I never thought I would get the call. Now that I have, I'd like to thank Romance Writers of America for leading me down the right track. I have learned so much since becoming a member over six years ago. I also would like to thank Tanya Goodwin, my critique partner for all her "suggestions", which were always right, and for the brainstorming sessions that took place over the phone. I am going to take you on this wonderful journey with me. Along with my daily walk on the South Beach Boardwalk in Staten Island, New York.
