Tuesday Tales

“I can dance like this all night long,” Alexandra whispered, her cheek resting against his. “I can’t believe that it’s already after nine. The night just flew by.”

“That’s where you’re wrong. The night is still young.” He hugged her snugly and kissed the top of her head. “We have so much to talk about.”

“Would you like me to put up a pot of coffee?”

“That would be great. Come on,” he said releasing her, “let’s go in the kitchen and I’ll help you.”

“You’re spoiling me.”

“That’s what I’m here for.”

Alexandra put up the coffee, while Billy took the homemade apple pie off the stove and placed it on the dining room table. Her eyes followed him and she tried her best not to be caught staring at him, but she couldn’t help it. Billy had short brown hair and hazel eyes along with a muscular upper body. She couldn’t wait to get the opportunity to squeeze his killer butt.

After setting the table in the dining room, Alexandra leaned against the doorway and watched as Billy walked around the room looking at the photographs on the sofa table.

“Do you remember New Year’s Eve 1975?”

“Are you kidding me? I can’t remember what I did yesterday, let alone remember what I did over thirty something years ago.”

“Oh yeah, I remember distinctively what happened that night.”

“Please enlighten me.”

Lifting a picture up, Billy turned, pointed at it and asked, “How do you know Maggie and Wendy?”

“Maggie is my mom and Wendy was her best friend.”

His eyes brows flew up. “Wendy is my mother.”

“Are you kidding me? That means that we knew each other when we were kids.”

“It also means that at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve in 1975, you were my first kiss.”

“Oh no way. I would have remembered… Oh! Now I remember. You were the skinny boy with a worn leather belt keeping your pants up.”

“Yep that was me. I’ve come a long way since then.”

“So I see. This is an amazing discovery that after all these years we meet up again and get a second chance at sharing a kiss.”

“Yes it is. I will never forget that kiss. You were kind and gentle. I knew that you didn’t like me. You had your eyes on your brother’s friend. You didn’t take your eyes off him all night. Yet, when I repeatedly came over to talk to you, you spoke to me and let me kiss you. I played that kiss over and over in my mind for weeks.”

“I don’t remember why we were at that same New Year’s Eve party together.”

“Our father’s worked together down at the docks. That year we were invited to their bosses’ house.”

“I remember that I didn’t want to go. I wanted to go to my friend’s house, but my parent’s insisted that we go as a family.”

“We were so young back then. I wonder why we never seen each other after that?”

“My father got a promotion and didn’t work the docks anymore. Than a year or two afterwards, he left that job and got his dream job as a journalist. Once he got himself established, he left me and my mom.”

“I had the opposite. My mom left my father for an older man with money.”

They both laughed.

“I learned from their mistakes,” Alexandra said.

“We can’t compare ourselves to our parents. And discovering that we both had a past together many years ago is amazing.”

“You left a mark on my heart. There was something special about that kiss. Even though it lasted only a few seconds, it still had an effect on me that I carried throughout my life.”

“I find that hard to believe.”

“Hey, call me a romantic.“

“Seriously, do you think I believe that?”

“I wish you would. When our lips met earlier, I got the same feeling you did that very night.”

Alexandra touched his arm and wish she could remember their first kiss. Now the kiss they shared earlier…was one that she wouldn’t forget. She vaguely remembered that New Year’s Eve. But tonight, she wouldn’t forget. She too felt the electricity that Billy felt. A feeling that she hoped he shared.

“You felt something?”

“Did you?”

“I asked first.”

“And I asked second,” Alexandra blushed.

“Okay, yes I felt something.”

“Me too.”

Billy put his arms around her shoulder and sat sideways on the couch.

“How about we try that kiss again?”

“I thought you’d never ask.”

Black Friday Blog Hop

Welcome to the Black Friday Blog Hop. I am not a Black Friday Shopper.  You ask why?  Because I was on the other side of the door. I worked at Toys R Us for five years.  And I worked every Black Friday.  I would spend Thanksgiving with my family, and then rush home to try to get a few hours sleep before going to work at 3:30 AM in the morning. I'd get to work and fight with the crowds to get through the exit door into the store.  By 4:00 AM the customers are crushed against the front door, some their noses against the glass.  Electronics and the hottest dolls are on the top of everyone's list.  Despite the complete mayhem, I must admit it was one of favorite days of the year to work, along with Christmas Eve. In my eyes, the main theme of all the Black Friday mayhem is love, getting the best deals to make our family, friends and love ones happy. Now you want to talk about love, I am giving away a copy your choice Roses or The Boardwalk . Roses   The sudden
