Tuesday Tales – Tight

-->

Hi.  Welcome to Tuesday Tales.  This week's word prompt is tight. Pia is found herself in a pickle.  Here's the continuing drama.

Pia paced through her living room and kitchen.  Lisa had called her earlier, telling her to sit tight, she was on her way home.  Home?  She was only gone two days.  This wasn’t good.  When she left, Lisa told her it might take her a couple of days to find something out.  Now, just under forty-eight hours later, Pia found it hard to believe she found out everything about her surprise marriage to Larry.

During these two days, Pia spoke to Lorenzo at least four times a day.  He had pitched a one hitter the night before and was surprised to hear Pia stayed up to watch it.  Why wouldn’t she?  She hadn’t slept through the night since Lisa left.  As a kid, she hated these late night games when they played on the west coast.  One game, back in the early eighties, she had stayed up until three o’clock in the morning watching an extra inning game.  She loved baseball. She loved Lorenzo.

When the key turned in her door, her heart skipped a beat.  Lisa was about to walk into her house with the news she had been waiting for.  The words, you are legally married to that bastard, haunted her mind, driving her absolutely crazy.

The look on Lisa’s face said it all.  She stood emotionless in the doorway with her electric blue briefcase.

“Oh no.  That look isn’t good.” Pia stood in place, her right foot shaking.”

Lisa placed her briefcase on the cocktail table before giving Pia a hug.  “Let’s sit down.  I’ll explain everything to you.”

“Oh man, I don’t like the sound of this.  I have to go get something to drink.”

“No drinks,” Lisa snapped.

“I wasn’t talking alcohol.  I was going to get us a bottle of Pellegrino water.”

“Sorry.”

Pia walked into the kitchen holding back her tears.  It wasn’t about Lisa snapping at her, it was about knowing what she was about to tell her, that she had gotten herself neck deep into a horrible situation.

The kitchen towel served as a tissue to wipe the tears from her eyes.  Lisa didn’t tell her anything yet and already she couldn’t keep her composure.  All that kept going through her mind was losing Lorenzo, the first man who she truly had strong feelings for.  With Lorenzo she felt alive and at peace with herself.

Pia sat down next to Lisa, placing the two bottles of water on the table.  “I’m assuming you have bad news,” she said crossing her legs and rocking back and forth.

“Yes and no.”

“What does that mean?”  Pia asked opening her bottle of water.

Lisa took the marriage license out of her briefcase, along with another license. “Legally you are, technically you aren’t.”

“What the hell does that mean?”

“Larry forged the license with an out of date seal.  Now to prove it.”

Black Friday Blog Hop

Welcome to the Black Friday Blog Hop. I am not a Black Friday Shopper.  You ask why?  Because I was on the other side of the door. I worked at Toys R Us for five years.  And I worked every Black Friday.  I would spend Thanksgiving with my family, and then rush home to try to get a few hours sleep before going to work at 3:30 AM in the morning. I'd get to work and fight with the crowds to get through the exit door into the store.  By 4:00 AM the customers are crushed against the front door, some their noses against the glass.  Electronics and the hottest dolls are on the top of everyone's list.  Despite the complete mayhem, I must admit it was one of favorite days of the year to work, along with Christmas Eve. In my eyes, the main theme of all the Black Friday mayhem is love, getting the best deals to make our family, friends and love ones happy. Now you want to talk about love, I am giving away a copy your choice Roses or The Boardwalk . ...

Christmas is about family, tradition and memories.  Through the years I've kept up with my grandmother's tradition of making Christmas cookies, which I might add I love doing and sharing. This past year, after being a single parent for 17 years, I met the love of my life and got married three months later.  Now we are making our own traditions and box full of memories. For the first time in over ten years, I have taken out Christmas decoration, which were packed away with no future to be seen again, expect for being passed on to my kids. But not this year.  My husband John and I combined our Christmas decorations, decorated all three floors of our townhouse transporting our home into a winter wonderland. My four foot tree is fully decorated in the den and his eight foot tree is in my living room with a collaboration of both our ornaments making for the perfect tree. We bought new ornament and decoration to make our new memories to go with our new life to...
